Easy Chocolate Frosting

This recipe is from the inside of a Baker’s Unsweetened Chocolate box. It’s called Baker’s One Bowl Chocolate Frosting.

I couldn’t believe how creamy and glossy this frosting was when it was finished. It’s so good on top of cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and graham crackers!

You can begin this frosting before mixing a cake since you have to wait for the melted chocolate to cool down completely before adding the final frosting ingredients.

Chocolate Frosting

Your Ingredients for Easy Chocolate Frosting

  • 4 squares Baker’s Unsweetened Chocolate

  • 1-16 ounce package (2 cups) powdered sugar

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

  • 1/3 cup milk

Whip Up Your Homemade Chocolate Frosting

Microwave the unsweetened chocolate in a large microwaveable bowl on HIGH for 1 to 1 ½ minutes. Stir every 30 seconds or so to keep it from burning onto the bottom of the bowl and to see if it is melted completely.

Once the chocolate has melted, set it aside and let it cool completely.

To the cooled melted chocolate, add the powdered sugar, softened butter, and pure vanilla.

Gradually add the milk, beating well with a mixer on low speed following each addition. Mix until well blended.

Yield: 3 cups or about 22 servings of 2 Tablespoons each

Tip: if the frosting becomes too thick, simply add a little more milk at a time until you reach the consistency you like.

Wasn’t that easy? Chocolate frosting from scratch tastes nothing like the store-bought frostings – it has a creamier and better chocolate flavor.

Please don’t misunderstand me – frosting from a can has its purpose and I have used it when I’m in a pinch, but I personally, have definitely made the switch to homemade chocolate frosting for the most part.
