Chocolate Cookie Recipe

Chocolate Cookie Recipe with a little twist that makes it a little different from the usual. These delicious cookies have a "crackle" top and they also include pieces of M and M candies (the mini ones seem to work best.)When you make your own you know what goes into them and you know the ingredients are not only fresh but suited to your family and friends.

There always seems to be a good time for cookies, especially when coffee is at hand, and these will become a particular family favorite, so why not try our very special chocolate cookie recipe and find out for yourself.

Initially we tried this chocolate cookie recipe just because we had mini M&Ms on hand in the pantry: so we used them in a cookie recipe!

PLAN AHEAD – batter must chill for a total of 2 hours before baking cookies.

Yield: approximately 5 dozen cookies

Chocolate Cookies

Your Cookie Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 4 squares unsweetened baking chocolate, chopped
  • 4 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup M&Ms MINIS Milk Chocolate Candies
  • Additional granulated sugar – in a separate small bowl

Combine the flour and baking powder in a small bowl and set aside. Combine 2 cups of sugar, butter, and chopped unsweetened baking chocolate in a medium size saucepan.

Heat over medium setting until the butter and chocolate are melted. Once removed from the heat, stir the vanilla and eggs into the chocolate mixture.

Stir in the flour mixture last and mix until well blended.

It’s up to you whether you mix the cookie batter by hand or mixer, but I found it was easier to transfer everything to a mixing bowl and let the mixer do the work.

Chill the cookie batter for 1 hour.

Take the batter out of the refrigerator and add the M&M MINIS to the batter, folding them in so they’re well distributed throughout the batter.

Chill for an additional hour.

How To Bake The Cookies

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Line cookie sheets with aluminum foil.

Dust your hands lightly with sugar and then roll the batter into 1-inch balls.

Roll the rounded cookie ball in the additional granulated sugar.

Place cookie balls about 2 inches apart on the cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the cookies appear “crackled” and slightly brown on top.

Allow the cookies to cool completely on wire racks and then store whatever you haven’t eaten already in an airtight container.
