Your Cake Ingredients
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup sugar
- ½ cup shortening
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- ½ cup honey
- 1-teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 – 1 ounce unsweetened chocolate pieces, melted and cooled
You'll also need 2 cake pans, 8x1½ inches or 9x1½ inches across.
How to Make Your Cake
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare your two round cake pans by greasing and flouring the bottoms and sides of the pan.
Combine all ingredients and mix on medium speed setting. Mix until the ingredients are well blended, scraping the bowl as you go. Next, turn the mixer up to the high-speed setting and mix the batter on high for about 3 minutes. Pour the batter into your prepared cake pans.
Bake the cake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool for a minimum of 10 minutes and then gently remove the cake from the pans.
Frost the cake with this delicious Honey Butter Frosting. The frosting really "makes" the cake!
